Winding Down

Winding Down

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

Silent witness to it all

"

For years the old clock hung in stately grace,

In the hallway; marking both time and the living room,

Watching over the comings and goings of the family

Never complaining, always a look of sympathy upon its face

It's withered hands marking time's both the good and the bad

Always chiming out in good cheer;

Just what it thought of the things it saw never giving a clue

Weddings, funerals, accomplishments achieved;

It was there through it all; rock steady, dependable

A clock just keeps on working...good hours and bad...

Yep; thanks Marie!
Just imagine the amount of stories it could pour out if it could actually talk. Such things always fascinate me; clocks, walls, trees- the stoic members in our lives we always take for granted. The ones who have always stood by, while seasons changed and people moved on.

Just imagine; yes indeed; thank you much!
This is a departure Mike - and a bloody good one it is too. Personifying the clock - representing the passage of time through a house; a family.
This reminded me of a toy clock I had as a child which chimed the tune 'My Grandfathers clock' - great childhood memories came flooding with that tune. Thank you Mike.
as a treat have this - Johnny Cash singing said tune.

I know it doesn't make much sense, but yes, that pretty much covers it; pretty wacky, no?
