Winding DownA Poem by Michael StevensSilent witness to it all![]() For years the old clock hung in
stately grace,
In the hallway; marking both time
and the living room,
Watching over the comings and
goings of the family
Never complaining, always a look of
sympathy upon its face
It's withered hands marking time's both
the good and the bad
Always chiming out in good cheer;
Just what it thought of the things
it saw never giving a clue
Weddings, funerals, accomplishments
achieved;
It was there through it all; rock
steady, dependable
