The Rage of the Daily WarA Poem by Michael StevensLife
Just a poem Everyday is a struggle, every day
is a fight;
A fight just to keep my head
screwed on right
Doing its best to drag me down
Into a raging torrent of issues,
the sound
Of panic ringing in my ears
Shouting out my doubts, screaming
out my fears
A never ending parade of bad
scenarios play over and over,
Driving me insane, forcing me to
take cover
Like a bad dream, yet I'm wide
awake
I should be running, but I can't
make
My legs move, I'm frozen in this
spot
Let's face it, a warrior I am not
I make excuses to explain things
away
But deep inside, I know the truth,
I have to say
It's the rage of the daily war
And I don't know if I can go on---can't
take much more
