Where I Live

Where I Live

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

My home town

"

I live in a world where nothing can hurt me

I live in a place where all is possible

A world where the sun shines around the clock

Where I'm the hero who saves the day,

A place I see myself in a better light,

Where I get the girl and ride into the sunset,

And know all the answers, where I never hesitate

A place where I never make mistakes,

And always know just what to say

There, I'm more interesting than The Most

Interesting Man in the World

If you come to visit me, hang a left just past Reality Street,

Then veer right until you see, "Welcome to Dream Land'

Mine is the house with 2.5 kids playing in the yard!

I so agree with alf. Felt this to be one of your best poems, gonna shelf it in my library. A lovely and most unique piece.

Hi Michael. I hear your pain!!! I surely hope whatever you are going through is just a passing phase. I think each an every one of us feels like that at some point, but I feel sorrow beneath the top layers of your words. Perhaps regret, perhaps something darker that you cannot show the world, but you write it so very well!!!! this was a disturbing read from the outset, and my heartstrings were yanked harder than most times I read!!! Loved it, loved the dark undertones. please write again!!! alf

Well, we all live in our own realities, the question is just to what extent

Sounds ideal. Too bad it's just a dream.

Although I would like to see that half kid playing in the yard...

Yeah, that would be quite a trick, alright; thanks as always Marie!
thanks for sharing your poem. I word traveled to dreamland and back reading your words. Not a bad thought. If only it were so. I will think of the movie, 'Pleasantville,' and read your poem again.
