What a strange ride, this rocket to decent

 

Has taken me on--they say you learn from your mistakes

 

Well, surely I must be a Rhodes Scholar by now!

 

Even Shirley will admit when I started this writing s**t,

 

It was mostly just that! My pen had training wheels,

 

And I fell quite a bit, I mean Face-Plant City

 

But I kept at it, even though some said I shouldn't,

 

Until now, I'm decent, or at least that's what I tell myself

 

Through all the dead end plot ideas, through all the beating dead horses,

 

Through all the 'shouldn't have, but dids', I've somehow managed

 

To emerge in 'Fair to Midlin Town'!
