If you're looking for real poetry, this ain't it!

***

Winifred and Gertrude Downy stuff their faces Sunday nights,

at their parents home, Veronica and Hank, and what a sight!

Picture it, daughters who's presence makes the other spew,

sisters by blood, at least that's they claim, they just do

not like each other, they share nothing, except being pissed at

the world, and using the other as a doormat.

As they sit on the couch, their looks shoot daggers

at the other, yes, their moods augers

in from on high to basement lows.

Yes, they're each ready to reign verbal blows

down upon the other's head, with their faces

radiating barely-disguised contempt--the anger blazes

just below the surface--just waiting for a put-down to erupt.

Yes, these two each have social skills that are severely underdeveloped,

oh hell, non-existent, to be perfectly frank,

and so much worse the more they've drank.

Mom and Dad sit there in uncomfortable silence,

they secretly wish them gone, as they tense

up, but because they're just too polite,

their reluctance to hear their girls goes unsaid this night.

They hear from Winifred how much smarter and prettier she is,

how Lucile's rats nest of hair just lays there in frizz.

Lucile counters with poor Winifred's husband, it's the same

thing Winifred does when it comes to more intimate games!

Winifred attacks Lucile, it always end up the identical way,

while Mom and Dad sit there, no knowing what to say.

So ends another family dinner from Hell,

I tried to let you know the awful truth, if you couldn't tell!
