Sad Wings of Destiny

Sad Wings of Destiny

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

Trying to adjust, just trying to be creative.

"

I thought I was going in one direction,

then out of the blue, I'm going another,

trying to adjust to a sudden new world.

A sad performer, a desolate actor,

playing a scene not of his choosing,

in this tragic play that no one wants to see.

Hides behind a down turned mask,

and pretends he's playing in a comedy.

His audience of one left long ago,

now he's playing to these empty houses.

A standing ovation for the role he's made his own,

for the points of view that he espouses.

No one wants to see a whoa-is-me play,

but sometimes it's the only role I know.

The sad wings of destiny have changed course,

nothing I can do, just try to soften the blow.

Thank you much, mattevelli!
Sometimes we're blown off course, and it's hard to find the way back. Adjustments have to be made a little at a time, not all at once.

I write for fun; I write comedy pieces and some dramatic stuff. I have no formal writing education, and I have a fear of being told I suck, and maybe I should give up on writing, and get a job makin.. more..
