What Makes Funny?

What Makes Funny?

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

Subjective conjecture!

"

Two guys walk into a bar, and one guy says,

"look at that, that's the funniest thing I've ever seen!"

His friend looks at it and says, "Give me a break, that?

I've seen funnier s**t in a funeral parlor!"

How can two people look at the same thing and reach

such differing conclusions--if I've learned one thing over

the years, the many, many years, it's that something I find

funny, someone else will find spew-worthy

(that means un-fricking funny indeed!)

I think we laugh at things that hurt, and different people have different soft spots.

Yeah, I think you're right--thank you much!
I have never figured out what it is that makes one person laugh and not another. But I do know one thing: people laugh in crowds at things they would not laugh at alone.

Agreed, Marie, mass-hilarity?
