Vague Memories (Are They Real?)

Vague Memories (Are They Real?)

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

Mine?

"

Flickering through dusty air come memories.

Moments from my past, but are they real?

Did they happen to me, or someone I once knew?

No answers do I see when I stare at long-ago ghosts.

Just a hint of a sad shadow disappearing from view,

like teasing false-memories having the last laugh.

Not sure if they were really ever there at all,

or was it just a mean-spirited trick of the light?

Ah Michael--you had a glimpse into an alternate world, where these things really were true...
