A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

Is it now, or then?

"

Sometimes I watch the news and cringe

at some of our leaders' beliefs.

I get a vision of the scared villagers

running through the forest with torches,

screaming, "kill the beast!"

The monsters may have changed,

but some of us are still filled with terror.

Some are scared that the president

will take away their precious guns,

you know, the ones they'll need

to protect their loved ones when,

not if, he orders our rights taken away.

Not to mention us--paranoid about vaccines?

It's one step forward and 400 year back.

And there're so many other ludicrous

boogiemen to be frightened of.

Is this the middle ages, and someone

forgot to tell me?
