Literary Whittling!

Literary Whittling!

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

I got nothing, so I wrote a poem about it!

"

Sitting here, just wasting time, the equivalent of whittling

let's call it literary whittling, shall we? I feel the sting

of having exactly nothing to write about, so that's what

this poem is about, nothing. What I've got is a glut

of nothing, and this particular subject I've run into the ground,

cause I've got nothing more often than not--put it down

to boredom, nothing to do but hunt and peck.

Blue in my mind, black in my heart, and red in the neck!

**
Nothing comes very easy to me, I wear it like a cheap suit.

That's me, Nothing Man, while I wait for something to bear fruit.

But my mind stays blank, there are no ideas to see.

So, you'll see, a blank spot, and I think you'll agree,

where my ideas are, is the equivalent of a desert waste land.

My ideas have spilled, and drained into the sand.

So, all I'm left with for a topic is nothing.

For lack of a better term, I'm literarily babbling!

Jerry Seinfeld ain't got nothing on yours truly.

I'm going on a have-nothing spree!

I can do nothing with the best of them,

as you can tell from this nothing po-em!

I have no opinion regarding this. You lost me at nothing. Have you tried collaborative writing?
