Cold Light of DayA Poem by Michael StevensReality vs. fantasy![]() I see things quite clearly in the cold light of day. The long shadows of night have
finally cleared away, leaving only stark reality, not
pipe dreams. I finally see the way thing are,
not how I wish them to be.

Contrary to the way it should be,
nothing is forever. Sometimes, there is no easy answer, just more questions--and nothing's
a bed of roses, as the cold light of day beats
down, and exposes the harsh truth for everyone to
see, instead of puppies and rainbows
constantly.
***
So you'll heed my warning, if you
are wise. Don't live in a fantasy world, open
your eyes. Don't put your hands over your
ears, and say, 'la, la, la', and expect a comedy, when life is a
drama.
