Game of No-Chance

Game of No-Chance

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

Insanity!

"

Today comes word of another senseless tragedy,

a preventable one--not all, it's true, but we may see

one or two plots stopped in their tracks,

maybe catching a few who somehow fell through the cracks.

******

The important thing is we've got to start somewhere,

before we see more looks of unbelievable anguish there,

on the faces of relatives and friends, yet we're letting

a small, yet powerful, minority, stop us from getting

anything changed, and so we'll be saying to exact same words

next time, and we're guaranteeing it'll happen again, that's the hazard

of staying silent, and letting those who yell the loudest,

bulldoze common sense changes into the dust.

******

Until you and I demand thing change, nothing will be done,

about some crazy person with an easy-to-get gun.

It's an unfunny joke the way things stand now,

stand up and be heard, and say gun violence will longer be allowed.
