Lessons Learned the Hard Way

I've been a student since graduating from high school,

in spite of my self-unawareness, and being a fool

sometimes. In "The School of Living" you don't have a choice.

Learning's not voluntary, and you cannot skip out--the Voice

of Experience will win 'Teacher of the Year' every year.

The lesson comes from adversity, happiness, or a tear.

Some people choose not to listen to the lesson being taught,

and those people's education goes for naught.

But being taught it is, constantly, day after day,

and in choosing not to listen, you surely must pay.

Age is the greatest teacher, from this school we never graduate.

You can't rush it, unfortunately, you'll just have to wait.
