Instant Old!A Poem by Michael StevensLife!![]() Seems one day you're young, and in a hurry to grow up, the next you're invisible, and
infirm fills your cup. You crank your hearing aid up to
eleven, because somewhere you heard that
it's one louder than ten, AND SO YOU CAN HEAR LIFE as it
passes you by. Hell, to even read this--need reading
glasses for your eyes! Just another reminder of the getting
old s**t you face everyday. A lifetime of wisdom to impart, but
no one hears what you say. I never imagined myself on the downhill
side of the dividing line. I'm now one of those ancients who
b***h and whine, a 'you kids, get off my lawn!' cranky
old buzzard, the senile old man who, driving by,
flips you the bird. I never noticed when officially I
crossed over, in the blink of an eye, it's gone
so fast, in a blur. One day you're struggling uphill,
the next you're going down, and believe me, not in a fun way--no,
the only sound you hear is the ticking of the
clock, the only sight you'll see, is more gray hair each day, for you
and me! © 2015 Michael Stevens |
