The Idea Machine

I can't think of a good way to describe it!

                                                      

You have an amazing Idea Machine on the end of your neck.

Switched on for many with caffeine, it's not very hi-tech.

 

One doesn't need a credit card to purchase this app.

 Just let your thoughts roam free, and don't close your yap.

 

Granted, most of the ideas that emerge will be useless,

but every so often a good idea will burst from that mental mess.

 

You're a free range idea chicken, let your mind peck,

true, it probably will never lead to any kind of paycheck,

 

but it's not your fault that your great idea isn't seen by all.

So, you won't receive a huge monetary haul,

 

at least it keeps your mind busy, not thinking of the many ways

your life blows, and the downer movie that plays

 

on a seemingly-endless loop on the movie screen of your mind,

a welcome and needed distraction from the daily grind.

 

You can be the hero, instead of the sniveling coward you are.

You can travel to places you'll never see, both near and far.

 

You can slay the dragon, and wind up with the babe,

instead of a movie, and a T.V. dinner from the microwave.

 

So, dust off that noodle, and put it to good use.

Think, man, and let those freaky ideas loose!

Haha nice poem! I don't know whether I should laugh or be inspired, probably both. While I can definitely say I have never been called a "free range idea chicken" before, I really like the voice that this poem has, and the slightly sarcastic, yet still somehow sincere, tone.
