Don't Critique Just to be a Dick!

Written for a great writer, and a great friend

                                                                           

You put writing out there for all to see.

A little piece of yourself to see if others agree

 

with your judgment that it's a worthy thing that you've written.

You wish and hope for constructive, but tis some nasty you're gettin',

 

really helpful things like 'this really sucks!"

Written by some totally insensitive smucks!

 

Apparently they don't care that such statements rip out your heart,

gleefully ranking as they tear your baby apart.

 

They seem to think they're auditioning for "America's Writing Idiots".

No talent of their own, they're content to fire language-bullets,

 

and destroy another's fragile self-confidence and sense of pride.

I wonder, is it that they hate themselves inside?
