The Perfect SongA Poem by Michael StevensA look into the past
I wanted to write the perfect song, but, there was plenty of time before it was gone,
wasn't there? It always seemed that maybe next time, I'd write the perfect melody--the perfect line.
Now I find myself on the other side of forever and looking back, a truth I could never see--a hidden fact.
I realize something I never saw at the time, we were pretty damn good. It was something I was blind to--that I never understood.
Now, I guess, I'm meant to walk a different path, one that's changed, sure, in devastation's aftermath.
