I Don't Care

I Don't Care

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

The scourge of today's gun violence

"

I don't care, I don't have a heart, I'm a totally unfeeling one.

I'm complete indifference--got a job to do--oh, you can try to run,

but how many times have I seen it before,

you lying there, motionless on the stone-cold floor?

I'm single-minded, and I can't afford to care.

I've got some misery that I'm going to share.

See it makes no difference, if it's the wrong time, wrong place,

just give a lifeless stare at the horror etched on your face.

I show no emotion, as I carry out my master's command.

I don't have a comment--I'm just doing what they demand.

It's not up to me to judge if your sane or insane,

that's up to you--want nothing changed? I'll keep dishing out pain.

Lawful, or unlawful--it makes no difference to me.

I'm just doing my job--after all, what's another killing spree?
