The Elusive Deal!

The Elusive Deal!

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

Quiet, I'm posting here!

"

Rush, rush, rush, everyone's in a hurry to get nowhere.

Silence is golden, and precious, and rare.

It's such an elusive deal that we don't even hear

the cacophony of noise assaulting our ear.

We don't notice it until it is absent

in the daily war--oh, to be a non-combatant!

Traffic honking angrily, or not--people yelling,

if you are peddling ear plugs, I'm buying what you're selling!

They say to take time to smell the roses,

well, enjoy the silence, for it's rare, one supposes!
