Journey to InsaneA Poem by Michael StevensWhere we're headed--sarcasm![]() We set out, seeking a return to an
always-sunny day, looking for a savior to save us
from all the decay.
Someone to lead from this mess, and
make us stand tall again, return us to the glory we once had
back then.
when we were the envy of the world,
the shining light upon a hill, a place once extraordinary, and now
it seems in decline. Still,
we're just one leader away from
showing us the way out. One person to look at the rest of
the world and rant and shout,
"It's not our fault, it's
yours, and yours, and yours! And I'll tell you what we're going
to do, we're slamming the doors,
rolling up the welcome mat and
putting up a 'closed' sign. Yes, my motto is, 'to err is for
others, not me, for I've got a spine.
I'm the man to lead us out of the
dark, back into the light. Yes, I'm the special man to lead
you in this fight!"
But, we forget that it's not them at fault, ours is the blame for not demanding an end to this
corrupt political game.
We don't pay enough attention to
what is really going on. We can't be bothered to vote--and
now everything's almost gone.
Hence, this journey that our
indifference made necessary. Instead of being vigilant and
insistent, our panicked choice is lacking, sadly.
