The Wall

The Wall

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

Generational divide

"

Sorry if you thought this was yet-another rant

against Trump--no, this isn't about the brain he keeps in his pants,

and this has absolutely nothing to do with Pink Floyd.

No, this is about the media, and that empty void

we call 'news,' and reporting, which is anything but.

If you think you being served, you're off your nut!

This is about the young generation maybe not even being aware

of the past, and not what's in Trump's underwear.

They're not to blame, having nothing to compare it to,

this joke we call 'news', and being ripped on what they're due.

The divide between generations is like an mighty wall

that no one can scale, because it's too dang tall.

The media slop we're eating is from a mighty shallow trough.

There's no 'there' there--such a low bar to clear, and no pay off.

No meat and potatoes, and a warped version what's truly important.

I already used 'rant' as a rhyme word, so I guess this time I can't,

but I guess you could say this in another tirade against the 'news'.

What we're subjected to, "light and get away from the fuse,"

because this monstrosity would be better off blown sky-high,

what with the incredulous non-stories that we're expected to buy!
