Taking the Gold on The Writer's Cafe

Taking the Gold on The Writer's Cafe

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

Read it and weep!

"

Verse:

Gonna wow all of you, gonna wow the masses,

Gonna write the tale to end all tales, and kick all your asses!

Yawl better give it up, cause you're simply spinning your wheels.

Yawl are mired in writer's block city, while my writing is the real deal!

Pre-Chorus:

Yeah, the yellow brick road runs right by my place.

Your weak attempts at scribing, will blow up in your face!

Verse:

Yeah, just light the fuse and get out of the way,

cause your chicken scratch just ain't gonna pay.

This so-called competition is all but over and done.

I'll take home 1st place, while awards, you'll have none!

Pre-Chorus:

I'm gonna shine, I'm gonna gleam,

I'm gonna rock, while you run out of steam!

Chorus:

You may as well pack it in on contest day,

cause I'm Taking the Gold on The Writer's Cafe.

Compared to mine, your writing will look weak.

You'll never find the adulation that you seek!

Verse:

I'll sing a song of winning, you'll sing a song of not.

You call that writing--is that all you've got?

Wait, what's with all the negative comments?

Maybe I ain't as good as I thought-is that what these represent?

Pre-Chorus:

Well, I'm taking my keyboard and going home,

for I guess I'm missing the good writer chromosome!

Chorus:

Yes, I can now see the writing on the wall,

I never had a chance in hell, none at all.

I'm bowing out of the rigged contest today,

cause I ain't going to win s**t on The Writer's Cafe.

END

(I hate to get your hopes up, but I ain't really going anywhere, and don't worry, you'll still have my stuff to kick around!)
