Dancing With the Devil

Dancing With the Devil

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

A song in the key of reality!

"

Verse:

Crawling up to the ceiling, and back down the wall.

This is hardcore hurt--I see spiders in the hall.

I was in deep...was before I knew what was going down.

I was in peril before I knew what hit me, or could even turn around.

Pre-Chorus:

One quick hit, and there was evil flowing through my veins.

Now it's like I'm tied down mentally with invisible chains.

Verse:

I can't remember how many times I've heard it said.

'Pal, you're dancing with the devil.' It must constantly be fed,

or I start to shake and sweat, and it just laughs at me.

Unless I get my hourly fix of cable television, it'll be

Pre-Chorus:

a day of complete Hell--but watching is just as bad.

Seeing The Donald brag and s**t--makes me so mad!

Chorus:

Dancing With the Devil, dancing in the black.

I done got the addiction monkey firmly on my back.

If only this were heroin, kicking it would be a piece of cake.

But I can't kick The Donald; turning on CNN was a huge mistake!

Verse:

Black Tar Donald is a habit I just can't seem to lose.

I tell myself hit the 'off' button and have a shot of booze.

But my trembling hand can't, or won't, obey the laws of physics,

I've just got to view Caveman Trump's caveman hieroglyphics!

Repeat Pre-Chorus:

Verse:

When some day in the distant future, but not so far from now,

after America and others have taken it in the shorts, and how,

archaeologists will read them, and say, 'What the f**k are these?

Near as we can figure, some ancient b*****d went on a dip-s**t spewing spree!'

Repeat Pre-Chorus:

Repeat Chorus:

End
