Megaphones (Nothingness Arcade!)

Megaphones (Nothingness Arcade!)

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

ANY domestic news network!

"

Verse:

Talking heads each screaming nothing louder than the rest.

knee-padding egomaniacs and morons in their quest

to get higher ratings than they've ever got before,

and sure enough, they've gotten ratings galore!

Pre-Chorus:

But, they've forgotten just one thing,

and that's the truth, in their quest to bring

Verse:

entertainment to the viewer, they glorify jack-asses.

They bring this three-ring circus to the masses.

It's an electronic pinata with absolutely nothing inside.

They don't care where we're headed, just enjoy the ride!

Repeat Pre-Chorus:

Chorus:

Megaphones all screaming to be heard over the others.

When one clown fades, they zero in on their brother.

It's reality T.V., without and minus the reality.

But they don't seem to care about that, it's must-see!

Verse:

Uncle Walter would be hanging his head in shame.

It's not news to the networks--to them it's a game.

They treat us all like we're all in the third grade,

like we're morons in this nothingness arcade!

Repeat Pre-Chorus:

Repeat Chorus:

End
