Driving That Train, High on Insane

Driving That Train, High on Insane

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

They're speeding, and we're in the crosswalk!

"

Verse:

The media is driving, and we're just along for the ride,

they're bound and determined to effect the tide.

This election, the truth seems irrelevant, again.

They make it seem close, at any cost, so you'll tune in.

Pre-Chorus:

They're manipulating the fact to increase their ratings,

we the people just want the truth, but we're still waiting.

Verse:

We have to pick and choose and separate the chaff,

and it is they who'll win, and get the last laugh,

while we get the booby prize that explodes in our face.

The state of our media is a national disgrace.

Repeat Pre-Chorus:

Chorus:

Driving That Train, High On Insane.

Yes, Captain Tabloid is flying this plane.

Actual journalism is a thing of the past.

It's sensationalism first, and facts last.

Verse:

Stirring up conflict, forget what's really going on,

maybe the powers-that-be are just too far gone?

Maybe they don't remember a time before reality T.V?

I fear for the future and the bullshit we'll see.

Repeat Pre-Chorus:

Repeat Chorus:

Verse:

They're driving that clown car, with manipulation at the wheel.

A lot of the masses won't or can't see this crooked deal.

The cards they're dealing in this thing they think a game,

tabloid poker blinds our eyes, and they don't want to accept the blame.

Repeat Pre-Chorus:

Repeat Chorus:

End
