'In the Immortal Words of Dear Old Lloyd!'A Poem by Michael StevensWhen you got nothing, turn on the T.V!![]() Verse: 'Looks like I picked the wrong week
to quit sniffing glue,' and boy was Bridges right, and its
apropos, too. The former words was a quote from
the movie, 'Airplane!', the latter is mine, a little while
ago, but I've said it again and again!
Pre-Chorus: Now, I'm well aware that whether
'again' rhymes, depends on how you say the word,
sometimes,
Verse:
but give me a break, would you
please? I'm in an idea-slump,
difficulty-by-degrees!
I'll take what I can on this
rhyming deal, I'm struggling to make anything out
of this rambling spiel.
Pre-Chorus: It was classic Lloyd, but the usual
me. I'm taking my imagination from an
old movie!
Chorus: 'In the Immortal Words of Dear Old
Lloyd'- on the end of my neck is nothing
but a void. As you can likely tell from me,
literarily-stuttering, I'm verbally stagnant, and
orally-muttering!
Verse: It's thanks to Lloyd I've got
anything at all. No hidden ideas lay within my
virtual scrawl.
Chicken-scratch belies empty--I got
nothing. Around the edge of inspiration, I
just keep scuffling!
Pre-Chorus: I'm sure it's painful to scroll
down and read, but just think how I feel, when
nothing is keyed?
Repeat Chorus:
End
