The GWB National Monument

The GWB National Monument

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

soon!

"

"Everyone, welcome the George W. Bush Monument,

if you look out--sir, you may need those binocs--the extent

of climate change can clearly be seen--amazingly enough,

some deniers clung to the belief it wasn't happening--tough,

greedy, selfish thinking lead us to this, and now it's too late.

They blamed natural occurrences, and the cruel hand of fate,

as those of you from the coast are so painfully aware--

we're now living on the edge of an arid nightmare.

Scientists guess it's a combination of natural and man-made.

Coast-dwellers who used to use sidewalks, now have to wade.

The people who used to scoff, well, they aren't laughing now.

Ten feet of water in your yard, tends to change your outlook, somehow."
