Gleeful Misery

Gleeful Misery

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

What on EVERY channel, constantly!

"

Gleeful Misery!

The media smells blood in the water--circling like sharks.

"What other nasty secrets is she hiding in the political dark?"

Bound and determined to nail the wounded animal to the wall,

they won't be satisfied until her front-running candidacy falls.

They strut and gloat, and endlessly speculate.

They'll want truth, but they're not willing to wait.

They bring us gleeful misery, and if they don't know the facts--hey, guess!

They know nothing, but they say until they do, they won't rest!

Never mind that she's already said it was a mistake,

No, they're only happy pissing in the wedding cake.

No, it's condemnation at the speed of light, and damn the 'don't knows."

They'd take pride in pulling the wings off bugs--"now, let's see how you roll!"
