Fanning the Flames

Just my opinion

     An  open letter to the media: 

"Your playing scenes of racial tensions endlessly on a loop of disaster is just the latest example of sensationalism over real news coverage--only this time, with this story, your well over the line of danger--you're, purposely, it seems to me,  fanning the flames of racial division as entertainment in your never-ending quest for ever-higher ratings, and therefor higher profits for your company. It's what you do--take an interesting story and cover it, almost exclusively, over and over, constantly, to the exclusion of anything else newsworthy. Stop reporting it like it's a sporting event, with winners and losers--the only loser in this is all of us."

I agree. Without knowledge where would the terror be? Ignorance is bliss... But I'm not suggesting a media silencing. Just a toning back, stepping back, putting things into perspective.
