Psycho-Out!

Psycho-Out!

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

In the dark of night!

"
Is that somebody creeping down the hall?
Is that an ax murderers' shadow on the wall?

Strange, what 2 am does to your mind,
when lack of sleep and imagination have combined

to make you lay there, in a terrified sweat,
you talk yourself into believing it's as real as real gets!

These imagined nightmares while you're awake.
Or at least, you think you know what's going on, and fake

yourself out of your Jockey shorts--I know, that also applies
to another type of dream, but I figure to go there isn't wise.

You swear you hear someone listening at your door,
and that thought turns you to ice, and  freezes you to the core.

Monsters behind the door, waiting to carve out your guts.
and in the light of day, you realize you're fricking nuts!

Ha.... nice. I hope we all get scared of what goes bump in the night unexplained.... it'd be embarrassing if you and I were the only ones.

That trait probably kept our oldest ancestors alive when we shared the savannah and forests with all the lions, tigers, and bears (oh my).

Ah, I hate to break it to you, but I think we are the only ones!
