Long Gone

Long Gone

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

What we're left with

"
When did I go from 'promising future' to 'checkered past'?
The days of a revered news man weren't that long ago--contrast

then with the crap-on-a-stick reporting you get now days,
it's a pale joke of yesteryear, what with their pathetic ways.

Sensationalism and shock have replaced fact and thought, and
gone forever are the days of Walter and Edward--Tom and Dan,

for two more recent examples--yes, they are so Long Gone.
And what we're left with is something so very wrong.
