Laying the Groundwork!

Laying the Groundwork!

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

You can see it coming!

"

And so, the drumbeat of excuses has started,

I've heard it said that politics isn't for the faint-hearted.

And it certainly isn't for anyone so thin-skinned,

Donny, my boy, with that 5th grade mentality, if you were to win,

this nation might never recover, but now you'll have an out,

while we'll be left with nothing but a handful of fears and doubt,

which you hammered into everyone, but those who believed your dog whistle

of an unlawful election will entirely believe your out-and-out dismissal.

According to you, and those who support you, the election is rigged

against you, this also coming from an egotistical, self-centered, ignorant pig.

That way, when you inevitably lose big, and take it in the shorts,

it will give you an out, as we watch as your face, ugly and brutal, contorts

in feigned outrage, after all, it couldn't possibly be your fault, you're only telling

like it is, or rather, how your diseased eyes see it, more name-calling and yelling

we'll all be subjected to. Already, your troops are circling the wagons,

which just tells me you know you're losing, and getting desperate, invisible dragons

claw at the corners of your mind, and your grasping at any perceived chance, at any straw

that will save you, the prize fighter with the thinnest of skins and the glass jaw

Will the Wiki-Leaks leaks be the white knight that rides to your electoral rescue?

Because if we go by your thimble-sized solutions, you're chances are just about through!
