Self-Inflicted

Self-Inflicted

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

No one else to blame

"

"Ladies and gentlemen, behind this political door

you'll see an amazing beast, with followers by the score.

Direct from the primordial ooze, straight into your eyes,

I guaranty you've never seen the likes of this guy.

What started as a publicity stunt has gone suddenly out of control,

much to the disbelief of the man himself, nothing but a cratered hole

will be left of our once-strong national pride,

and we'll be to blame, for he'll bluster and lie,

and we'll look around for someone, something to blame.

But they'll be no one, nothing, because to him it's just a game.

We'll be playing Russian Roulette with six bullets in the gun.

Nothing and no one unscathed from his joke of a presidential run."
