FBI Director Comey's HUGE nuts!

I KNEW it! When I first saw the report that FBI director James Comey had told lawmakers that new emails had been recently discovered which were 'pertinent' to the ongoing investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server, my first thought was it was politically-motivated. But, I figured I was letting my outrage color my reasoning. He must have another reason, and he made the excuse that congress would find out eventually, and accuse him of covering it up. But today I read that others in the FBI warned him that it would be widely seen as an attempt to influence the election, and the FBI had never done that, it was unprecedented. He had zero proof, said he didn't know if it was damning evidence, but HAD to advise Congress. 

Immediately, Republicans crowed, as loudly as they could, that 'the investigation was being reopened', when, in fact, it was never closed, thereby making it sound worse than it actually was. If it really was pertinent, the FBI could have quietly investigated and not used a bullhorn to shout it from the rooftops. It was a pathetic, underhanded thing to do, but that's in keeping with all the rest of Republican philosophy, is it not? Scorched earth policy at it's crawl-on-your-belly-in-the-mud worst!
