Let's Ask Granny

Let's Ask Granny

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

Granny's warning

"
Hey, Granny, tell us about how bad it may get,

you've been blaring like a siren about the terrible

threat

posed by Mr. Trump and his ilk, who seem to be

spreading like a swarm of far-right locusts--you see

the danger, you hear the goose-stepping, you feel the

madness

coming around again, you understand the threat, we

can only guess,

that is, those of us who even care, for the others seem

to be under some spell, a product of Hell, tell me it's

only a bad dream,

Granny, tell me that surely we're not going down this

road again?

Surely we're not playing a losing hand, and expecting

to win?

Yeah, let's ask Granny, she knows full well the danger

we're heading for.

She once thought the terrible past was locked behind

the door,

but now she's watching with disbelieving eyes, as sad

history repeats itself.

WAKE UP! WAKE UP! Can't you hear the chiming of

that distant warning bell?
