Closing The Barn Door

Closing The Barn Door

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

Yes, yet another!

"
The predator is in with the livestock,

and now, the farmer slams the door.

Too fricking late, Mr. Farmer man,

he's going on a rampage, of the killing kind.

His first target is thought and reason

by intimidating free press, it'll be downhill from there.

The cows never saw the danger,

but at last they're beginning to see.

This wolf in power clothing was sly like the fox,

and told them what they wanted to hear.

Soon, they relaxed, and began to drift off,

while the wolf made his narcissistic plans.

And now the sad truth is dawning, they're all at his

mercy.

They finally see him for what he is,

a danger to their very way of life,

but now, it's already too late.
