The Gold Standard

The Gold Standard

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

Expect the best, but prepare for the worst!

"

Two days till I write the poem of the ages,

before I let my ideas out of their cages

I've decided to write it then, as opposed to now,

because my ideas are closed for the season, they're

down

for repairs, they're impossible to access--oh, hell,

I'm fooling no one, not you, not me, not about to sell

that load of steaming rubbish to anyone,

I'm broken, I'm bankrupt on new ideas, I'm done,

period, I got nothing, I'm flailing to no avail.

I've been racking my brain for an idea, but 'fail'!

So don't expect something mind-blowing, in two days,

two months, two weeks, two months, two years, etc.

The Phase

of Nothing is upon me and I'm afraid in that, I will

fail,

so on this reading s**t, if I were you, I'd bail!

About
I write for fun; I write comedy pieces and some dramatic stuff. I have no formal writing education, and I have a fear of being told I suck, and maybe I should give up on writing, and get a job makin.. more..
