The Day The Earth Stood Still

The Day The Earth Stood Still

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

Under attack

"

Can you feel it, the trembling, quaking of the ground?

Can you feel it, an ill wind from out of the west?

Just the latest example of mass-delusion.

There must be something in the water

to make a world wide trance, zombies marching in

goose--

err--lockstep, it's The Day The Earth Stood Still,

the day that reasoning stopped, and fear began.

it didn't come from far out in space, it was already

among us, lying dormant until something triggered it.

We're under attack from ourselves,

and maybe we need a space alien to warn us of

impending doom?
