"Dear Mr. President"A Story by Michael StevensClass assignment![]() "Dear Mr. President, my
name is Lily, and I'm in the 3rd grade. My teacher is Miss Hopkins.
She told us to write you a letter, so that's what I'm doing. My daddy
likes you, and says you're just what the country needs. My mommy says
you're a Nean--Nean--well, I can't spell that word, so I'll just say,
'not good.' I used to enjoy getting home from school, but not
anymore, and it's your fault. I'm tired of them always fighting. My
dad tells me I shouldn't believe anything I see on T. V., and my
mommy says it's only Fox. When I was little, they used to tell me I
could trust what I saw on T. V., so I'm a little confused. My dad
then asks my mommy where his dinner is, and mommy says McDonald's. I
like McDonald's, and get super-excited, but then my daddy says a bad
word, and says she's a lousy wife, and my mommy waves her middle
finger at him. Some of the boys in Miss Hopkins class do that when
Miss Hopkins has turned away, and giggle. I don''t know what it
means, exactly, but my mommy's not giggling when she does it, so it's
probably bad. So, I guess what I wish, is that my mommy and daddy
stop fighting; do you think you could write them and issue one of
them executive thingies so they stop? I'd like that, and I'd like
you."
