The Gathering Storm

The Gathering Storm

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

The world's in trouble

"
Sitting here, helpless to warn them, watching the many ships of state

of the entire world running before the gathering far-

right storm,

No SOS has been broadcast, so there's no help on the

horizon.

They're on their own, they'll have to save

themselves, but

these ships weren't designed to withstand this much

punishment;

The doomed passengers line the rails, and look out

over the roiling seas,

they set these ships on this dangerous course, but

now must rely on

their captain's judgment to stay out of harm's way;

and that's a problem,

for some seem to be fresh out.
