Our Insane Times

Our Insane Times

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

Not even wanting to look

"
Seemingly little hope for the future from lessons of the past,

because the world's not looking, and I watch, totally

aghast.

See us struggling, and headed for the same brick wall

that will break us, no heeding the warnings, none at

all.

We'd better turn back, before we pay the same price,

we're not even thinking once, let alone thinking

twice.

History is a teacher, but if her lesson goes unseen

by blinded fools--you can't figure out what they mean,

if your too busy looking elsewhere, like in the mirror,

admiring yourself.
