We've Lost...

We've Lost...

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

What's suddenly missing

"
We've lost--the ability to be sympathetic

We've lost--the ability to think poetic

We've lost--the ability to see the positive

We've lost, the ability to be cooperative

We've lost--the essence of what made us stand out,

that made our country something to be envied, now

doubt,

fear, mistrust, and yes, hate, have replaced our soul,

and corrosive ideology has taken its toll

We've lost--the thing that made us human,

suddenly, it's the dark ages again
