The Eyes Of The World

The Eyes Of The World

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

Disbelief

"

The eyes of the world look, and wonder how this came to be,
they see an unqualified joke leading sea to shining sea.

I watch him on the world stage, and I simply cringe,
I don't see a president, I see only unhinged.

I see the new Mussolini, a strutting c**k,
in love with himself and his power, who walks the walk

of the third world, who preens and shows off for the lens.
Who sees the world through only his eyes, and depends

on the advice of no one, not much more learned men,
which, unfortunately, is any man; with no sense of where we've been.

Yes the eyes of the world are upon us, and crying tears of scorn,
America lies bleeding; bruised, scared, and torn.

Haha, true words.
"Yes the eyes of the world are upon us, and crying tears of scorn,
America lies bleeding; bruised, scared, and torn."
Power-packed stuff. Very well written!
