"Press One If You're Pissed!"

"Press One If You're Pissed!"

A Poem by Michael Stevens
"

Enough!

"

"Ring', 'ring', all day fricking long,

the chime of the phone sings a sad song.

And the name is '"hopefully, it's dinner!'

It's not possible for my patience to get any thinner.

Since when did 'do not call' become ring constantly?

How did this nightmare even come to be?

I hear the phone, and I'm instantly pissed,

at the constant interrupting, at having missed

a important line of dialog, or even unimportant,

it's the principal of the thing--my anger is bent

all out of proportion, all out of wack,

by the idiot machines or people attack.

Most of the time, there's no one there to b***h

out, machines don't care; so I'm left with a impotent

twitch!
