I explored this road

And that one

From canal

To dead end

First, I came across a village of

Tweakers

With trailers built from VW bugs

And duck tape

RUN AWAY

We rounded in dusty circles

Leaving bits of flesh to lead us back

To the gasoline fire we left

That was now engulfing the woods

Only the ferns swallowed the pieces

Reprocessed thoughts

With dreams of becoming a forest.

They sauntered after us with sneaky paws

Lapping up our boot prints

Erasing the past
