Congratulations on the start of a brand new relationship! If you've been around the block then you know it's a lot of work from now on. If not, then the relationship itself will teach you that. Sorry for the Dad review but, being of Dad age, those are what I do.

You write straightforwardly, without pretense or preciousness or straining for effect, and I personally like that. The best poets, like the best prose writers, have always focused on saying what they mean, and I think it's important that the rest of us do so as well.

Falling has a curious history both in the language of love and in human prehistory. More than one hominin from the days before humans left their remains for us to recover by dying of a fall. I wonder if the world-renowned Lucy similarly fell for some studly guy who didn't quite manage to catch her when she released her hold on the branch of some long-forgotten tree. Wouldn't surprise me a bit. But your guy turned out to be more able than that.
