The Origin of Racism In Three Indelible Words: The Human 'RACE'A Story by Marvin Thomas Cox-Flynn de GrahamSimple thoughts upon the topic of the ultimate origin of Racism ...The Origin of Racism In Three Indelible Words: The Human -- 'RACE'
-- written by Marvin Thomas Cox-Flynn de Graham ![]() This piece is presented as a, not-so-poetic, article of philosophical opinion, which seeks to isolate the proverbial wicked seed and root origin of Racism among men-as-Man's Humanity known as Mankind. Though I do believe in and respect Scientific facts. Such facts, thus far, give no appearance, nor hope of ever bringing about that grand and wonderful day when men of all languages, complexions, and nations will be able to joyfully say that Racism has been eliminated from the lives of all men-as-Man’s Humanity. Fact is, the very meaning of the word Human is derived from the word humane: To possess, exhibit, and convey compassion for other living creatures and, most importantly, other Human Beings, per the exampled definition cited just below. Humane: 1. characterized by tenderness, compassion, and sympathy for people and animals, especially for the suffering or distressed. 2. acting in a manner that causes the least harm to people or animals. https://www.dictionary.com/browse/humane To put it bluntly: Racism is inhumane and purely un-human, totally lacking any essence of the very compassion which does define each of us as members of Humanity's Mankind. And yet, how do we rid the world of such an intrinsic evil? Let's take a stroll down Free Thinker's Lane, as per my thoughts shared just below. ... Let us begin by pursuing a common sense philosophical avenue which I will suggest does hold forth more promise of bringing a real and lasting end to Racism than modern day Science and Technology can muster. While so many devoted people seek to battle racism day in and day out, how often have we truly given serious thought to the primal origins of Racism which are easily beheld right before our very eyes and noses? And yet, we fail to see the primal roots of a prevalent Racism Forrest for all of the many leafy Racism-spawning trees. Ask yourself a question. Are horses, dogs, cats, cows, or chickens considered as a “Race?” Answer: Nope. Such creatures are considered as varieties or species of animals. Animals are never classified by Race. And yet, Scientifically speaking, Human Beings are, in fact animals, as well as primates, bipeds, and mammals. Monkeys and apes are also primates, as well as bipeds and mammals, but are also never referred to by Race, but by species. In fact, the very term The Human 'RACE' directly implies that there are, or once existed, at least one NON-Human 'RACE', or perhaps multiple RACES. A question well worth consideration? Has there ever been, in the distant past, another Race of intelligent (primates?) biped beings who built civilizations, cities, and nations, which does give support and justification for dubbing Mankind's Humanity as The Human 'RACE' in order to distinguish and differentiate between other types of intelligent biped life forms on planet Earth? Say, Science Fantasy's, The Reptilian Race, or Science Fiction's Star Trek and Mr. Spock's, The Vulcan Race, as theoretical, but totally implausible answers? If not, and I do think not, there is absolutely no justification -- within the realm of established and proven Scientific and Historical facts -- for transforming Mankind's Humanity into The Human 'RACE.' Therefore, the root cause of Racism among men is the result of that person, persons, or entities who initially chose to dub Mankind’s Humanity as The Human 'RACE,' rather than simply referring to us each as Human Beings, which carries absolutely no connotation or hint of that dirty word, 'RACE.' The answer, I would theoretically set forth is that the word Race was added to Mankind’s Humanity -- in neither innocent nor benign fashion, but -- with insidiously-nefarious intent, and in so doing Mankind’s Humanity of this Earth's Human Beings found itself altered and, thus, tagged as an utterly flawed and tainted terminology of pitiable existence, which does ever so strongly suggest that we Human Beings, as Mankind’s Humanity, are somehow directly involved in a ruthless competition with one another, as though we must out do one another and are engaged in some type of virtual reality’s literal race to see who is best, and who receives the ultimate “Humanity” prize. A fine Christian example? 1 Corinthians 9:24 New Living Translation -- "Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win!" Our very existence as Mankind's Humanity -- countless yesterdays of thousands of years ago, and as such continuing to this very day of right here and now -- is undeniably geared towards competition, outdoing, defeating, besting, beating our fellow Human Beings. And therein lies the nasty crux of the matter: We run foot races, boat races, car races, even races to the moon, and races to rule the world, which has resulted in two World Wars to date, with the possibility of World War Three looming as an approaching storm upon an ever darkening horizon. Thus, it is my humble opinion that we, Human Beings, ,MUST CEASE referring to ourselves as The Human 'RACE,' and give, all Mankind, survival-serious consideration to the wonderfully sobering reality that we are all, every single one of us, Human Beings and are, blissfully thereof, an utterly-and-vitally-intrinsic part of Mankind’s Humanity: One Humanity, One Mankind, comprised expressly of One Mankind’s ONE AND ONLY HOPE of existing as Humanity's-Winning-Team. Here is a fact: When referring to other Human Beings, the very use and application of the word Race is RACIST, in and of itself. For the record: I live and stand as a fan of Mankind's Humanity, misnomer-ed as The Human -- 'RACE.' © 2025 Marvin Thomas Cox-Flynn de Graham |
