imagine a world with edges

imagine a world with edges

A Poem by seth bauman
"

nostalgia for a fictional place

"
shaped, neat, intentional, deliberately sculpted.
smooth lines with a glossy veneer.

bubble wrapped, packaged with foam peanuts,
on demand delivered to your door,

waiting was for a past life. Flatland,
living like a regular Polygon, able to

see the corners of the world, steady enough to
keep from falling off them. time is jagged here,

a minute an hour and an hour ten seconds, line
graphs are more useful than calendars, even if

you're not a day trader. pastels are fictitious,
comfort is an aesthetic not a feeling, the best

emotion is a perfect square, the Egyptians never
stopped building pyramids, life has an on/off switch.
