Happily Ever After

A poem written for my boyfriend as a gift for our 2nd anniversary.

I used to look for a guy
With glistening brown eyes,
One whose words were far too deep,
For me to ever understand.
I used to look for my knight in shining armor,
Unaware that love isn't something you search for.
Love is unexpected, 
Love walks into your life when you need him most,
Love is you.
You walked into my life
With open eyes, 
Just when I needed you.
You walked into my life,
A tiara sparkling in the palms of your nervous hands.
With the smallest actions,
You've showed me the beauty,
Buried within myself.
You walked into my arms,
From that moment,
Your embrace, 
Has always been safe.
I tried running,
With the fear filling my body,
But you were running too.
I caught you running through my each and every thought,
I began to understand that home
Isn't something you can run from.
I began to understand that you were
Prince Charming,
And I was destined to be your 
Snow White.
I began to realize
That happily ever after was never
A lie.
It just takes time to find,
But it lives within our immortal love.
