ANOTHER GLASS OF WINE

ANOTHER GLASS OF WINE

A Poem by Barbara Lynne
"

the emptiness of being alone

"

Another Glass Of Wine
The fire is burning softly
The music's playing low
The smell of popcorn fills the room
The candles all a glow
Sounds of winter can be heard
On the windows and the door
I snuggle on the fur rug
Fill my glass of wine once more
I watch the embers dancing
With colors yellow and red
Silence echos in the room
For not a word is said
Another glass of wine is gone
Mellow now is my tone
Sadness fills my empty heart
As I sit here all alone
But then I slowly close my eyes
And dream you're here with me
Fantasy opens my every thought
Enables my mind to see
I can touch your face with tenderness
Kiss your lips and hold you tight
I can lay down right beside you
Make love with you all night
But then the dream comes to an end
As the dark night turns to day
How I wish that dream was real
For in your arms I'd stay
I know it's only a fantasy
The wine helps me to see
This dream's not real, it can't come true
Alone I'm meant to be

About
I have been writing poems and songs since I was a young girl. Sometimes it is easier to say how you feel and what you dream in a poem or song than it is face to face. I appreciate all comments and t.. more..
